Urinary stones in the ureter can be treated with laser. This is especially effective for hard stones or stones that cannot be treated with ESWL or have failed to break with ESWL. This is done under general anesthesia. A fine semirigid ureteroscope is introduced via the urethra and bladder directly into the ureter. Once the stone is visualized, is fragmented and vaporised with Holmium laser. Small stone fragments can be retrieved using specialized stone basket.
